On new years eve of 2014 I decided that 2015 would be the year of "I do's". Ideas would turn in to reality.
One of those ideas was a children's book about the flu.
A lot of hard work went in to it. By March 2015 I had it finalized.
.I decided that I was going to take it a step further. Not only would my project get finished, but I was so proud of the result that I went out and looked for a publisher. I sent the manuscript and the illustrations to 8 publishers. Months went by, and by August 2015 I had heard back from all of them. They liked it, but not enough to publish.
It felt very heartbreaking, but I was not discouraged for I could see the happiness the book brought my own children.
So I decided to stop looking for a publisher and to make it in to a digital and interactive book sold on itunes!
I fought with technology and time and even my own self confidence but by October, the book was finished and I pressed send!
Before I knew it, I was on the top list for downloads, and friends were telling me how their own children enjoyed the story.
And that was enough for me. I made a promise to my self. I kept it, and for an entire week, I was a best selling author.
Who would have thought.
It is better to do, and be flawed, than to fear rejection. Just do it!
